Terms of Service

Last updated 2 September 2026

The short version. Subsy is a free tool for tracking your own software subscriptions. Use it sensibly, keep your own backups, and understand that it is provided as is with no guarantee it will always be available or correct.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Subsy — the website at subsy.app, the web app and the mobile apps — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Subsy is

Subsy is a record-keeping tool. You enter details of software subscriptions you pay for, and Subsy displays, organises and totals them. It is a notebook with arithmetic, not a financial service.

Subsy has no connection to your bank, card issuer or the providers you track. It cannot cancel a subscription, make a payment, or detect a charge. Nothing it shows is financial, accounting, tax or legal advice.

3. Your account

You need an account to use Subsy, created by verifying an email address or signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure, since anyone who controls it can sign in as you.

Provide an email address you actually control. Do not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, and do not attempt to access another user's data.

4. Your content

The records you enter remain yours. Subsy claims no ownership of them and will not use them for any purpose other than operating the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You agree not to use Subsy to store:

5. Acceptable use

Please do not:

Accounts that do these things may be suspended or removed.

6. Availability

Subsy is offered free of charge and without any uptime commitment. It runs on free and low-cost tiers of third-party infrastructure and may be slow, unavailable or interrupted at any time, with or without notice. Features may change or be removed.

Keep your own backups. Settings → Backup → Export JSON produces a complete copy of your records. Exporting periodically is the only reliable protection against data loss, and you should not treat Subsy as the sole record of anything that matters.

7. Accuracy

Every figure in Subsy comes from what you typed in. Totals, monthly normalisation and per-project cost splits are arithmetic on your own entries — they are not verified against any provider, bank or invoice. If a number is wrong in Subsy, it is wrong because the input was wrong or out of date. Check against your actual bills before acting on anything.

8. Ending your use

You may stop using Subsy at any time, and delete your account and all its data yourself from Settings → Account → Delete account, in the app or on the web. If you cannot sign in, email hello@subsy.app and we will do it for you. Export first if you want to keep a copy — deletion is not reversible.

Subsy may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or discontinue the service entirely. Where the service is being shut down, reasonable notice will be given so you can export your data.

9. Disclaimer

Subsy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. There is no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any data will be preserved.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Subsy and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, revenue or savings, arising out of your use of or inability to use the service — including a missed renewal, an unexpected charge, or a subscription cancelled or retained in reliance on what Subsy displayed.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Third-party services

Subsy links out to the dashboards and billing pages of the services you track, and relies on third-party providers to run. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and Subsy is not responsible for their content, availability or conduct.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use Subsy after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a change is significant, you will be notified by email at the address on your account.
